AACTFest11 is a national theatre event that will bring the best community theatre productions from across the Country and the U.S. Armed Services abroad to Rochester, NY, June 20-26, 2011. Over 600 people are expected to participate in this American Association of Community Theatre Flagship event. Performances, workshops and exhibitions are open to the public. The Geva Theatre Center, Woodbury Avenue, will be the venue where twelve performing companies will present their work. There will be six performance sessions, starting on Wednesday afternoon of AACTFest11 week. A Tony-style Awards Show will close the festivities on Saturday night. Geva will also house the National Design Exhibition and Competition, which will feature work by lighting, sound, costume, web and set designers.
Roberts Wesleyan College, in the Rochester suburb of Chili, will be the venue for a Pre-Festival Theatre Conference offering sessions on lighting, stage design, costuming techniques, sound, makeup and other theatre disciplines. This three-day event will draw participants from community theatres, high schools, colleges, and other groups that produce plays.
A three-day Pre-Festival Theatre Management Conference will be held at the Radisson Hotel Rochester Riverside, the official AACTFest11 hotel.
There will also be three mornings of workshops covering a variety of topics. Theatre supply vendors, playwrights and publishers will have exhibits at the Radisson Hotel. Wednesday morning of AACTFest11 week will be devoted exclusively to the vendors. Evening social events will provide networking opportunities.
AACTFest11 is hosted by the Theatre Association of New York State and its member companies and individuals. Volunteers from these TANYS member companies from across New York State and members of the Eastern States Theatre Association will be involved in planning and implementing AACTFest11 activities.
